Delhi Earthquake latest updates: Delhi-NCR was jolted by earthquake tremors late Tuesday night after a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Chamoli in Uttarakhand. The tremors were felt across several parts of the national capital and neighbouring NCR areas, triggering concern among residents.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 10:23:13 pm IST at a depth of 13 kilometres. The epicentre was located at 30.103°N latitude and 79.561°E longitude in Chamoli, Uttarakhand.

Reports said tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR as well as parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh.
No immediate reports of damage
There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage following the earthquake, although authorities and agencies were continuing to assess the situation. Residents in several parts of Delhi-NCR reported feeling brief shaking, with some people stepping outside their homes after the tremor.

Residents posted several videos on social media on Delhi earthquake; however these couldn’t be independently verified.
The earthquake was centred in Uttarakhand and not in Delhi itself.
Earthquake epicentre in Chamoli
The NCS identified Chamoli district as the epicentre of the earthquake. The tremor’s relatively shallow depth of 13 km contributed to it being felt over a wide area.
The event was also recorded by India’s official earthquake monitoring network.
Interestingly, the earthquake came on a day when another 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck Nagaon, Assam, at around 4:23 am. That earthquake occurred at a depth of 33 km.
The two earthquakes occurred in different regions and should not automatically be considered part of the same seismic sequence.
