NEW DELHI: The legislative machinery of the Indian government has effectively ground to a halt. The ongoing Parliament Monsoon Session was completely disrupted for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, as fierce clashes between the ruling coalition and the opposition benches over the NEET paper leak controversy triggered repeated adjournments.
The central point of contention remains the opposition’s uncompromising demand for accountability regarding the massive examination irregularities that have sparked nationwide youth protests.
The Standoff Over Pradhan’s Resignation
As the parliamentary proceedings began, opposition members immediately stormed the well of both Houses, shouting slogans and demanding justice for the millions of affected students. In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge drew a strict line in the sand. Kharge forcefully asserted that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must resign from his post immediately before any fair and transparent discussion can take place on the floor of Parliament.
The government, however, accused the opposition of deliberately sabotaging legislative business. Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and J.P. Nadda addressed the Rajya Sabha, declaring that the government is fully prepared and willing to hold a detailed, exhaustive debate on the NEET-UG paper leak and all associated issues. According to official sources, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla shortly after the government conveyed its readiness to discuss the matter openly in the lower house.
The Parliament Monsoon Session which was expected to discuss eight bills that the government has listed is yet to take off amid continous disruptions.

Protests Expand Beyond the Parliament Walls
The political deadlock inside the Parliament reflects the escalating situation on the streets of the national capital. The issue of the NEET paper leaks, heavily compounded by the severe police crackdown on student protesters earlier in the week, continues to dominate the national discourse.
At Jantar Mantar, large groups of supporters aligned with the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) continue to join the massive sit-in. The organizers have flatly rejected back-channel negotiation attempts. In fact, CJP leaders explicitly refused to visit BJP president J.P. Nadda’s residence for private talks. The youth leaders insisted that they are only willing to hold discussions either in public at Jantar Mantar or at a mutually agreed-upon neutral venue. The CJP has also issued a stark warning, claiming that “millions more will come” to Delhi if their primary demand—the resignation of Education Minister Pradhan—is not met swiftly.
