MIAMI: In a major development involving the controversial social media influencers, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Miami, Florida, on Saturday, July 18, 2026. The siblings, known for their massive online empire promoting wealth and male dominance, were taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service executing a sealed warrant.
The operation places the United States at the center of a complex international legal saga, as British authorities are aggressively seeking their extradition to face severe criminal charges.
Andrew Tate & Tristan Arrested Following UK Extradition Request
The arrests occurred just hours after the United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced a massive expansion of their case against the dual US-UK citizens.
While the brothers were already facing 21 UK charges tied to three victims from an earlier 2025 announcement, the CPS has now authorized 38 new charges relating to four additional alleged victims. British prosecutors claim the newly alleged offenses took place between July 2010 and August 2017 in an area north of London.
- Charges Against Andrew Tate (39): He faces seven further counts of rape, three counts of facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, an added charge of profiting from prostitution, and 19 charges relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
- Charges Against Tristan Tate (38): He faces two additional counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Escaping Romania for Florida
The Tate brothers initially moved to Romania in 2016. They were heavily investigated and arrested there in 2022 by Romanian authorities over allegations of forming an organized criminal group and luring women into sexual exploitation.
However, after that legal case stalled due to procedural irregularities, the brothers were permitted to leave Romania last year and subsequently flew to Florida on a private jet. Both men have consistently denied all allegations in Romania and the UK, claiming their misogynistic public personas were taken out of context.

“Filth and Slander”: Legal Defense Responds
Following the news of the Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested US operation, their American attorney, Joseph McBride, fiercely defended the brothers. McBride labeled the new UK charges as “filth and slander,” asserting that they were specifically timed to derail ongoing defamation lawsuits the Tates have filed in the United States.
“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free,” McBride stated, adding that America should not do Britain’s “political dirty work”.
The brothers are expected to make their first appearance in a Miami federal court early next week.
